The Christmas decorations are coming out! (Plastic baby Jesus' for the nativity scenes) After the Holidays many people simply toss Him in the closet and ignore Him.. Funny thing is, people do it everyday, and all the time! He's not a plastic ornament for your life, He's the one true God! Psalms 104, Acts 17:30, Acts 4:12

2 Peter 3:9 "The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance." Just because you hvnt seen the effects of your sin right away doesn't mean God doesn't see your sin.. Repent and believe while you can!

Blog title...
Ever tried to climb a rope in gym class or try to climb a tree using the branches? Sometimes you lose your footing and you find out what this gravity thing is all about. See, gravity is funny like that, it doesn't care if you believe in it or not, we are all subject to it! I saw a quote this week that grabbed my attention and I knew I had to do a short blog about it!
"Works! works! A man gets to heaven by works! I would as soon think of climbing to the moon on a
rope of sand." -George Whitefield
Works, I've been this guy. I thought I could "earn" my way to heaven. I thought I could be good enough to counter balance my bad works. You know what I mean, give extra money when the offering plate comes by, volenteer to do some kind of notable deed at a soup kitchen or local church, give blood or even go to church on easter and christmas. Most of these "acts" of goodness are just that, acts. I did those things to get God's attention and maybe even to get people's attention so they would say, "hey that Kevin is not that bad of a guy." The sad thing is, my heart always betrayed me. In God's eyes, these works would NEVER get me to heaven. I could spend countless hours trying to "be good" and do good things but none of these good deeds could change my heart. See, even my good "works" were tainted. There was always something in it for me. The bible tells us in Isaiah 64:6 that even my "good works" are like dirty rags. Jesus says in Matthew 7:21 that some people will do awesome works in His name. But in the end, He tells them He never even knew them! That is a scary thought to imagine that people can trick themselves into thinking they will go to Heaven just because they are youth pastors, sunday school teachers, deacons, and even pastors. Our idea of a good person will still go to hell if they don't know Jesus. The people in the Matthew 7:21 verse depended on their great works and exploits to get them into heaven. However, they had no relationship with the one who died for their sins (2 Corinthians 5:21). They never repented of their evil deeds (Acts 17:30). They never cried because of their wickedness (Psalms 51). Instead, they just did good deeds to earn their way to heaven. I've tried this, I've done the preformanced based grace. It really is like trying to climb to the moon on a rope of sand. Take note for a moment of what you are reading...all other religions make you earn your way to Heaven. Islam has you die a martyr, by killing infidels, to get to heaven, while Jesus died for His people. Buddha has you believe you can get your mind pure and calm and you will enter an enlightened state until you enter Nirvana. And With enough meditation and chanting you can
reach a level where you have no more suffering by following the eightfold path. However, Jesus suffered for our sins in our place. Hinduism has a cast system and is based on the concept of reincarnation. If you are good enough in this life you might be born into a wealthy family or if you were bad you might be born poor or disfigured. Jesus died for sinners and we are all equal to one another as we kneel at the foot of the cross. Stop climbing ropes of sand to nowhere. Trust in Jesus, he is the ultimate payer of the debt you could never pay. Romans 6:23 tells us the price of our sins is death. Jesus paid our debts owed to God because we broke his commmands. Now with Christ's righteousness credited to our spirtual account we are justified before God. Romans 5:2 says we now can come to God. Romans 5:10 says we were His enemies. Today, stop climbing the rope and kneel at the cross where your sins are paid for!

If ever you wish to see how great and horrid and evil sin is, measure it in your thoughts, either by the infinite holiness and excellency of God, who is wronged by it; or by the infinite sufferings of Christ, who died to satisfy for it; and then you will have deeper apprehensions of its enormity. Who would Jesus Date? WWJD?
But I love him!!!†Yells Marsha as she storms out of the room. Suddenly the slam of her bedroom door rings through the house. Marsha’s parents sadly look at each other. Marsha had recently started dating a young man who they believe wasn’t the best for her. “Ill show them, they think they can keep me from him!†Marsha whispers, as she pulls back the curtains and opens the window. Quickly she grabs her hoodie and makes her bold move. Running away seems to be the only answer so she can be with the one she loves. This might seem rash but this has been coming for a long time. You see, Marsha is one of those teens that lost her identity when she started dating. You know who I am talking about, you know that friend who used to hang out with you, but since they started dating you NEVER see them. It’s almost as if they are a zombie. Their myspace once showed blogs and pictures of how much fun they had with their friends and family but now it is full of quotes about how much they love their new boyfriend/girlfriend. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not mad about the fact that Marsha found someone, but why should her whole life be surrounded by this one person? She never goes to youth group anymore and you can see something different in her eyes. Where there was once a glimmer of happiness now it’s more like a glazed over look. 24/7 Marsha is always with “Himâ€.
You wouldn’t believe how much I hear this story, from teenagers and parents. Some people get “love drunk†and lose their identity as they change to make another person happy. Some times they know that the person they are dating is bad for them but they have a fear of being alone. Many times they will date people who they’d never marry. You might be thinking, “whoa whoa, what are you talking about...I am just dating dude!!†Um news flash, dating is taking applications for marriage! If you don’t want to marry someone who is unfaithful, someone who drinks, or someone who smokes, why would you date them? The Bible tells us that we should not be unequally tied together to people who aren’t believers. Imagine if you were pulling a cart but your boyfriend/girlfriend was going the opposite direction, it’d be super hard to get anywhere! The Bible tells us to date believers ONLY and it DOESN’T support missionary dating...You know what I mean, dating people who aren’t believers and trying to change them. Usually the Christian in this situation ends up with the short end of the stick! Would you be the type of person Jesus would date? The type of person that would make his walk with God stronger. One who prays with Him, who does Bible study with him? Do you put God first in your dating relationship? Do you do things in private that you would be embarrassed to do on Sunday morning in front of the entire packed out church with your friends and family watching? Don’t forget that God always sees us even when we think he doesn’t! Learn to put God first, and you will have the relationship God wants you to have.
Before Adam and Eve messed up in the garden of Eden, man-kind was perfect. Adam and Eve sinned against God so we needed a new example. God sent his son Jesus to earth to be our example. When Jesus came he set the standard of what we are now suppose to be.
Throughout Jesus’ life He only did what God would be pleased with. So if we are called Christians, which means “followers of Christâ€, we are to be like Jesus. We are to make God #1 in all areas of our lives. This includes our dating life. Jesus died on the cross for our sins, and now we should have a new relationship with sin. We should be dead to sin or sin should be dead to us!!! (Romans 6:1-2, Romans 6:11, 1 Peter 2:24) The things we once did, we don’t do anymore after we repent of our sins (Matt 6:12, Acts 3:19, Acts 17:30) . Repent means to turn from our sins and ask God to forgive you and make it a point to never want or do those things in your life ever again. After this 2 Cor 5:17 says that you are a new creature. Everything is new, all things are passed away.
So living as a new creature, justified with God (justified means that now you are on good terms with God) What kind of person would you date? You would date someone who has done the same thing as you. Who has repented of their sins and is now a disciple of Christ. A person who helps you grow as a Christian. This is who Jesus would date.

Confessions of a junky cell phone user...
I owned a junky cell phone. Yes, I admit it. Every time I charged the phone, no matter how long I charged it, it would die within 15 minutes. I was so frustrated! No matter the weather, the time or the place, 15 minutes was my limit! Can you believe this? Talk about a junky cell phone! The battery couldn't stay charged because it was weak, just like us. The Bible tells us that we are all weak. We have mortal bodies and one day we will all die just like this cheapo cell phone did. What happens after we die? The Bible says in Hebrews 9:27 that each person will die, and then we are judged on our lives. (Heb 9:27 Indeed, just as people are appointed to die once and after that to be judged.)
Most people dont think about dying. Statistics show that 10 out of 10 people die. How and when? Well that varies, but it does happen. When your battery dies what will happen next? I'm glad you asked many people believe that nothing happens. Think about this, every year there are about 500,000 murders. Out of those murders about 250,000 are solved. Wow, CSI is working over time! If 250,000 people get away with murder how fair is that? They DONT! The Bible tells us that God sees everything (Psalms 53:1). The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity; There is none that doeth good.
Imagine one day that everything you ever said, you ever did or even thought would be judged! (Revelations 20:15 And if any was not found written in the book of life, he was cast into the lake of fire.) Just like the 15 minute limit on my junky cell phone our heart beats have a limit, the wild thing is, we dont know when its gonna be all over. It could be 20 minutes or 20 years from now. No matter when we die, the fact is we will all end up dead. I eventually got a new cell phone and
got to start all over with putting in all my contacts...but that's not what happens in life and death. No reincarnation! Most people believe in the golden rule and are generally good. Most believe being good will get them to heaven. Sadly, that isnt what Jesus said. (Matt 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father who is in heaven. ) Now you might be thinking what is Gods will? A lot of times it depends on who you ask, but what does the Bible say? Keep his commandments! Exodus 20 1-14 tell us what his commandments are.
Take a moment to see if youve followed Gods commands.
1. Have no other Gods before me.
(This means you dont worship anything other than THE God of the Bible.)
2. Have no idols or created images.
(No we arent talking about American Idol, Idols are things we worship. Cars, people, TVs movies, video games, cell phones, etc.. you might be thinking how could I worship these things? If you think, "I can't live without ________" that is an idol!!!)
3. Dont take Gods name in vain
(Wow, lately saying Gods name as a cuss word is the newest fad, whether it shows up in the newest songs or plastered throughout our tv shows and movies, its almost cool to say G*D D*MN or Jesus Christ, as a cuss word. Gods name is Holy, and we shouldnt use it as a curse word!)
4. Honor the sabbath and keep it Holy
(God has set aside a day of rest and worship. When we dont rest we are out of Gods will. We are also called to worship God on this day. Do you attend church? Or sleep in?)
5. Honor and respect your parents
(Wow, how many times have we blown this one?)
6. Dont Kill
(Many will say, "that's easy, I haven't killed anyone", but Jesus tells us in Matt 5 that if we hate someone in our heart is the same as killing them. Are we still innocent of this one?)
7. Dont commit adultery
(You might be thinking I havent done this! Then again Jesus tells us in Luke 11 that if you even look on a woman or man and lust in your heart youve committed adultery!!!)
8. Dont steal
(Stealing can mean stealing answers on a test, downloading illegal music on the internet or even not being honest on our time cards for work!)
9. Dont lie
(Anything that bends the truth is a lie. Even little white lies are still lies.)
10. Dont covet
(Ever seen anything you wanted so bad youd do anything to get it? This includes the newest cell phone, the hottest video game, that name brand shirt, that vintage sports car, or that new house!)
These are Gods perfect laws and they are just like his character...perfect. We can never be "good enough" and keep these laws. So what are we supposed to do? If we can't follow these laws and get to heaven, what can we do? We can do nothing without Jesus. He lived a perfect sinless life, and died for all the laws we would be breaking in our lifetime. (For the cost of sin is death. Romans 6:23) Now we must acknowledge our sins, trust in Jesus as our savior, and have faith that God has saved us from our sins. That means we are to hate our sins and hold on tight to Jesus, our only hope to get to Heaven. Begin a daily life of a disciple and study Golds Word and Pray...yes, I said daily! (See how David acknowledged his sins against God in Psalms 51, a great model of how to repent of sins!)
The moment you have a new relationship with God is the moment you get a new relation ship with sin. You begin to grow closer to God and further away with your old lifestyle (2 Corth. 1:15) You're a new person now. Just like I got to start over with my new cell phone, you get to start over with God! Study his words, lay down your selfish ways daily (Romans 12:1-2) and become more like him! Something that will help you is to get into a Bible teaching, Bible believing church. Get involved in major Bible Study, clean up your life asking God to help you! REMEMBER to recharge your battery in Gods word and be sure you have a strong signal so you can communicate with God daily. Some of us don't know what we would do if we had to go one day without our cell phones...we should be the same way about our relationship with God. Have you talked to him today? The cool thing is, you NEVER get God's voice mail when you pray! Hes always there to hear us!
